I have my QuickBooks Desktop file on a Network Drive, One Drive, DropBox, or Google Drive. What do I do?
Because we run automatically in the background without your involvement, this is a requirement for Autymate to run Successfully.
Previously store owners had to have QuickBooks FILE installed on the MPOS network folder. That was because your OLD POS system is no longer REQUIRED. If you MOVE this file onto your Back Office Machine where you have QuickBooks installed, QuickBooks will run MUCH FASTER!!!! PLEASE move it because Autymate will run very slow and have issues on a network drive. There is no reason not to move it.
Autymate Recommends not to install Autymate with QuickBooks Desktop (QBD) company files on Network Drive, OneDrive, DropBox, or Google Drive. However, I want to ignore this recommendation. So, is there a workaround (you don’t need to move the file)? Or an easy fix if there is an issue?
Autymate wants to set you up for success so that your Auty-mations run smoothly every day without you having to think about it.
But Network Drive, Network Drive, One Drive, DropBox, or Google Drive causes issues. Since Autymate runs in the background to automate your accounting daily, these services sometimes write to the file and make changes to the QuickBooks Company when Autymate runs for you automatically, and this causes conflicts. So we recommend you move the file, so you do not have these issues. Only a few minutes to move will save you time long term.
Just a reminder: Be sure whenever you start QBD, you need to ensure it is running as an administrator. Just right-click QuickBooks Desktop and run as an Administrator; see this guide for details.
Now to move the QuickBooks company file to a location that is not on a Network Drive, Network Drive, One Drive, DropBox, or Google Drive, follow these simple instructions:
Watch this video to move your QuickBooks file to a supported location:
- Find the folder that contains your company file.
- Right-click the folder and select Copy.
- Open the new folder location on your hard drive.
- Then select Paste. Make sure you move the files ending in .qbw, ND, TLG, .sds, and .qbw.
Like Saasant and TPI, you must have QuickBooks running when you run the import. Then this needs to be the case for Autymate as this is a limitation of QuickBooks. So you will need to make sure QBD is running all the time.
If you choose to keep your file on a Network Drive, Google Drive, One Drive, DropBox, etc., you will have to make sure QuickBook Desktop is running on the Back Office Machine you installed Autymate Desktop App on. Be sure to leave QBD on when you leave the office.
Answer: Option 3: When there is an issue because of a conflict, follow these steps to rerun the auty-mations
Please note: If the automation fails because it cannot connect to QuickBooks, open QuickBooks Desktop as an administrator and open the Dashboard in the app and hit
Run Again in the desktop app.
You can also log out of the Autymate Desktop App, which will not try to run your Auty-mations for you when you don’t feel like QuickBooks is ready. Then when you are ready to run your Autymations, start QBD as an Admin, open the Autymate desktop app, login in, and all your integrations will run automatically (no need to hit the run now button).
