Question
I have my QuickBooks Desktop file on a Network Drive, or optionally, I have a file on a folder with One Drive, DropBox, or Google Drive. What do I do?
WHY are we asking you to move your file off the Network Drive?
Because we run automatically in the background without your involvement, this is a requirement for Autymate to run Successfully. We do not support Network Drives; you must move your file to the Network drive.
A little history, previously, store owners had to have QuickBooks FILE installed on the MPOS network folder. That was because your OLD POS system is no longer REQUIRED. If you MOVE this file onto your Back Office Machine where you have QuickBooks installed, QuickBooks will run MUCH FASTER!!!! PLEASE move it because Autymate will run very slow and have issues on a network drive.
Optionally, you should consider moving the file if you have the QBD company where One Drive, DropBox, or Google Drive sync the files to the cloud. This can cause problems because Autymate runs in the background to automate your daily accounting. Sometimes these services write to the file and make changes to QuickBooks Company when Autymate runs automatically. This can cause conflicts. So we recommend you move the file, so you don’t have these issues.
Answer: Move the file to a new location (REQUIRED for Network drives) and optional for One Drive
If you see any of the following pop-ups or messages, you are running your QuickBooks Desktop Company file on a network drive that is not supported (network drives have // at the beginning). Just click “OK, Copy the file to Desktop,” move the file to your Desktop manually and open the file.
When you click OK, Copy File to Desktop
, we will copy your QBD company file to your Desktop, open the new file and use your new Desktop Company File Path for Autymate. Please ensure you do not use the old location for QuickBooks Desktop going forward with your TEAM.
To copy the file manually, click Cancel
and follow the instructions below.

- Open the new folder location on your hard Drive.
